IMPORTANT INFO

Joining alpha Kappa Delta Phi could be one of the best decisions of your life. However, as with many other big decisions, there are many things to consider before jumping into the sisterhood. Use this page to learn about the requirements for potential new members, and expectations as a sister.

While we would love for everyone to be able to become a New Member, there are certain requirements that each potential new member must meet before going through the New Member process:

1. Completion of at least 12 credits at Rutgers University (does not include AP credits)
2. Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
3. Currently enrolled as a full-time student at Rutgers University-New Brunswick
4. Register with Greek Recruitment at Rutgers OFSA

If you do not fulfill these requirements, you will not be able to enter the New Member process. However, even if you are not eligible to enter the process this semester, we still encourage everyone to come out to rush!

As you may know, all sororities (including aKDPhi) have semester fees. Fees include everything required by our national board and University Office of Fraternity and Sorority Affairs; nothing is collected for personal purposes or the chapter's monetary gain. The new member dues are $250 including initiation, pin, insurance, new member, and semester dues. For initiated members, the dues are $230 including insurance, sisterhood events, and semester dues. Payment plans can be arranged if necessary.

The sorority as a whole participates in numerous activities and events that encompass socializing, academics, community service, sisterhood, and Asian Awareness. As sisters, we host sisterhood and philanthropy events, mix with other affiliated members and strive to represent the five pillars of our sorority. We also attend nationwide aKDPhi events, such as Northeast Sisterhood Rally/Conference (NESR/NESC), National Convention, and Back to School Retreat (BTSR), while constantly supporting events hosted by sisters from other schools. These events take place all across internationally, from Toronto all the way to San Francisco!

Our Alcohol policies are in accordance with New Jersey state laws and are expected to be followed by all sisters as well as prospective members. Drinking any alcoholic beverages for anyone under the legal age limit is strictly prohibited. There will always be assigned a designated driver who is responsible for those sisters who are in her car and must ensure they arrive and return safely from the event. All issues that arise will be escalated to necessary university administrators or alpha Kappa Delta Phi National Board members.

As a social organization, our National and Chapter policies additionally prohibit the use of ethnic, racial, alcoholic, and sexist party themes, social media posts, T-shirt designs, event flyers, and other related matters.

alpha Kappa Delta Phi is a non-hazing social organization. Hazing, defined as “any action taken or situation created to produce mental or physical discomfort, embarrassment, harassment, or ridicule,” is absolutely condoned nor tolerated.
